How to create realistic goals when you’re living in a world where everything is in a comparison competition…
First, let me start off by saying that all goals are realistic. I’m aware that society has forced us into thinking that some goals can’t happen, but you should always know that you can do whatever you put your mind to. Anything is achievable; you just have to really want to go out and get it. If you have this mindset, great minds think alike right? So you’re already a step ahead of where you thought you were. Every since I was a little girl, I’ve always dreamed big. I never knew exactly how I was going to live my dreams, I just knew I had the determination to get there. As I grew up, I learned two things that helped me create goals that are stepping stones into fulfilling my overall dream. Now, I’m nowhere near 100% complete, but I must say, I have seen improvement in my life because of these goals. I’m currently a freelance journalist who writes for many publications both print and digital. I’m also a blogger, obviously, and a digital content producer among many other things. This is a huge difference from where I was almost three years ago.
So let’s get into two these basic two steps that’ll help you create realistic goals. Get in loser, we’re achieving our goals.
Please, find something you love (and do research).
We’ve all heard a motivational speech where the speaker grills us about how we should live our lives and do what we love. And guess what? They’re right. I must admit, sometimes it can be challenging trying to convince others that you’re not wasting your time when you go after what your heart desire. But, forget them. If you constantly have to remind someone that this is your passion, and they try to mock you, you don’t need that energy in your life. Dispose of them. After you take out the trash, do research on how to turn that dream into reality. Of course, if you’re like me, you’re starting off small. This means you don’t have major connections and money to get on the express train to your dream and that’s perfectly fine! Once you search for your passion on google or use your own knowledge of the passion, write down the mini-goal. This is just one of the plethora of smaller goals that’ll help you get to the dream. For example, it could be brainstorming T-Shirt designs or thinking of new recipes(if you want to be a chef).
Spice up your life, be determined.
Who doesn’t like spices? Sometimes we get into the habit of creating things and not sticking through with them. NOT THIS TIME! We’re spicing it up and we’re actually going to use that research and brainstorming to keep ourselves excited and determined about the goal we just created. I LOVE to give myself pep talks after I create a goal. Some people might think it’s crazy but it really helps me with staying positive. This is a crazy world we live in and the last person we need to be negative towards is ourselves. Although, let’s try not to be negative at all.
I really hope this post helps you in some way with creating realistic goals. Just always remember that anything is achievable.
