Am I the only one that feels bad when I do what’s best for me?
Sometimes I feel like what’s best for me isn’t the right option to choose because it might affect someone else.
But when I do choose what’s best for me, I feel bad.
For example, I never leave work on time. I usually leave about 2-3 hours past my scheduled time so that people who have to close the department don’t feel overwhelmed.
Surprisingly, today I left on time because I’m exhausted. Yet, as soon as I walked out the door, I felt bad.
There was much more work to be done and there were a good amount of people in the department, but I felt bad about leaving on time.
My coworkers leave on time (some everyday) but the moment I leave, I felt like I could’ve stayed to help more.
Why do I feel this way?
Why am I so sympathetic?
One thing I noticed today is that I always say “sorry” even if something is not my fault or it’s not a serious situation.
It’s like a habit. I don’t know if it’s because I’m really a soft person or if I still have a lot to learn.
Whatever it is, it’s draining.
