Early 20’s: Being A Parent

I’ve been wanting to blog about this topic for a while. I’m 21 and I don’t have any children; however, my mother had me when she was 20 (1 1/2 months away from being 21) and I’m friends with people who are the same age as me, with children.

I see a lot of people make posts and say, “Are there any ’90’s baby’ without kids?” like having kids is a disease or something. Why do y’all care about who have kids in their early 20’s?

Now, I must admit, when I was 18 I used to say the same shit. But now I don’t care who have kids in their early 20’s. I shouldn’t have cared in the first place because it’s not affecting my life in any way.

However, I prefer not to have kids right now. I want to focus on getting my BA (I’m in my junior year) and starting my career. I’m not saying that you can’t do that with kids, though. I’m just saying what I prefer.

Also, just because I want to wait to have kids don’t mean I’ll be changing diapers when I’m in my 30’s or 40’s.  But, it’s your life and do what you want to make it the best life possible because we only get one.

So, if you have children in your early 20’s, congratulations. Children are a blessing, but make sure you’re taking care of them and make them you number one priority. If you don’t have kids right now, like me, let’s try not to bash those who do.

We need more love in this generation.
