One thing I’ve learned as I continue to grow as an individual, is to start saying no. I used to be one of those people who always said yes when people needed my help, until I noticed that people were taking advantage of my niceness.
Saying no was not easy for me to do at first. I never wanted people to be mad at me, I didn’t want them to think I was mean or didn’t want to help them, and I didn’t want to lose friends/bonds. But, as I got older it became easier.
The first time I said “NO” was actually me testing out how situations would go once I started using it. That situation went completely left. All of a sudden I was a fake friend who didn’t want to help the person and my bond with that person broke.
Do I regret saying no? No.
I know I’m a good person and I help as many people as I can. But, I also know when I’m being used. We all have those people who only come around when they need something. It’s okay to help them but start saying no when you don’t want to.
Your real family and friends will understand. The fake ones will start to distance themselves when they can’t use you anymore. You don’t need that negative energy in your life anyways.
So, start saying no.
