Relationships: “You need permission to wear that.”

Yesterday, I woke up craving Keebler Crackers. (I know what you’re thinking. Why crackers out of all things but hey, the heart wants what the heart wants). Anyways, I went to Family Dollar because they had a deal. Two boxes of Keebler Crackers for the price of one. Amazing right?

While I was there, I overheard a conversation between a couple that quickly shifted to an argument. The man was upset that his girlfriend was wearing a bikini top and lace shorts.

It was 95 Degrees in Chicago yesterday. There was little to no air blowing, deadly weather. The woman defended her attire by saying she’s a grown woman who can wear what she wants.

Of course, the man went on to say how she’s not single so she has to respect him and their relationship.

Which brought me to the question, Do you need permission to wear something while you’re in a relationship? Hell no.

Asking for permission is what kids do. These are two grown people in a relationship. It’s okay to get the opinion of your spouse on whether they like the outfit or not but asking for permission is crazy.

If they don’t want you wearing certain things, they should have a valid reason as to why. Then it’s up to that person on whether they’ll change or not.

Wearing what you want is not disrespectful. This goes for men and women.

What do you think?
